The Hit List – Mixed Messages: Combining multiple tarot decks or other divination tools

The Hit List - Mixed Messages: Combining multiple tarot with other divination tools

Maybe it’s because I’m a Gemini, but I happen to love variety. If I can have more than one version of the same thing, I’m happier than a kid with a plastic rocket and a can of Mountain Dew.

For example, I may be a traditional tarot person (no need for extra cards, 78 is enough, thank you very much), but I adore having tons of options nonetheless. Even better: oracle decks, Lenormand cards, and other fortune telling devices. Heck, I even have a bingo spinner with balls that spell out “yes,” “no,” and other such things at the crank of the wheel.

One of my favorite things to do is combine them. For example, I might pull cards from different tarot decks. Or I might choose a tarot card plus an oracle card. Sometimes I’ll toss a few charms or spin the bingo thingamajig.

This is an excellent way to add additional information to the reading, plus it stretches my divination skills. I highly recommend testing this out for yourself.

Here’s how you do it.

1. Choose a tarot deck.
2. Next, pick an alternate divination tool. That might be a tarot deck, oracle cards, Lenormand, or whatever you are drawn to.
3. Formulate your question.
4. Shuffle your cards. If you’re using multiple decks, you will want to shuffle each one separately. When you’re ready, fan the decks out face down and choose your cards.
5. If you’re using a different type of divinatory method, say a pendulum or set of charms, you can toss the charms or use the pendulum after you turn over the cards.
6. Interpret!

It really is that simple. You can see me working with two decks every single Friday over on my Instagram live.

Alright – test it out. Let me know what you think!
